5 Easy Steps To Prepare Yourself For A Positive Week

It’s Sunday evening, and you’ve had a wonderful weekend, full of laughter and fun. So why can you feel a creeping, overwhelming cold dread feeling coming over you? It’s unfortunate but true: you may have Sunday Night Anxiety.

I know about this feeling very well. For a couple of years, I had this anxious feeling every Sunday night, trying to eke out as much of my weekend as I could and just hope it wouldn’t come to an end. At the time, I didn’t realise what was happening and thought everyone felt the same.  I hated lying awake, wondering what the week would bring, already stressing over my to-do list.

It was getting worse, and I realised I needed to do something about it. Instead of lying in bed in the darkness, anxiously dreading the alarm, I realised I should tackle my week head on, and own the hell out of it.

Here’s how to be positive for a good week ahead:-

1.Create a list of what you want to achieve

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed with tasks you need to do, but when you write it down, it turns out to not be as bad as you think? Getting a to-do list down, whether that’s on paper, or on your phone or laptop really helps to put things into perspective. It will also ensure you’re not starting money trying to figure out what the hell you’re supposed to be doing!

2. Treat your body kindly

We all love fun, and sometimes weekends come with overindulging. Try to avoid alcohol as must as possible, as this can add to anxiety and exacerbate your worries. 3. Hit the shops

It sounds super boring, but my fiancé and I always go food shopping on Sundays. We’re then stocked up for the week, we eat healthier and don’t need to worry about picking bits and pieces up from the shop every other day. This also helps for preparing lunches.

4. Plan your outfits for the week

Simply choose what you’re going to be wearing in the morning, the night before. The best outfits are chosen when you’re not trying to do your mascara with one hand and trying to brush your teeth with the other. If nothing else, it gives you five, sweet extra minutes of sleep!

5. Relax!

This sounds like a fair amount, but once you’ve done it for a few weeks, it will become second nature. That being said, make sure to set aside some time to simply relax on Sunday, whether that is reading a book, catching up on a boxset or talking a walk.

These days, I am working for myself and no longer worry so much about Sunday Night. However, just because I don’t need to attack the morning commute doesn’t mean I don’t practise what I preach!

No matter what you do, preparing as much as you can helps to ensure you know where you stand and to achieve what you want to achieve – even doing just a couple of these things will set you up for a much easier and organised week. By doing all these you will eventually be more prepared on how to be positive throughout the week.
