Q: “Most of my stress is triggered by work. Sometimes, I get anxious when I feel like I don’t fit in at work or don’t live up to people’s expectations. I also feel stressed about not being able to get a house in the future, because I can’t save efficiently. What should I do?” – London, United Kingdom

 

A: “It sounds like you’re struggling with self-love. When we fully love and accept ourselves, others opinions don’t quite matter as much.

Something I recommend clients do, as we often have a habit of giving so much to everyone else and not enough to ourselves, is to write yourself a “love letter”. List the things you love about yourself and what makes you successful OUTSIDE of work and buying a house – these are external things. An example would be, “my success is defined by my ability to have fun every day and create a life full of balance.”

Which leads me to my next recommendation – I would also suggest playing more. Allow yourself to get creative, take photos of things you love, go for a walk in nature without music or a podcast, paint a picture. Let yourself have fun. This sense of ease will eventually allow you to turn that “can’t” into a “can” and you will find a way.” – Alyssa Miller, Anxiety Coach
