We’re on a mission to provide an affordable channel to boost your mental health. So, each week, we’re checking in with our community to see how they’re working on their mental health and their goal towards happiness. We invited to Alyssa Miller, Anxiety Coach, to help us some tips and advice on stress management.
Q: “Most of my stress is triggered by work. Sometimes, I get anxious when I feel like I don’t fit in at work or don’t live up to people’s expectations. I also feel stressed about not being able to get a house in the future, because I can’t save efficiently. What should I do?” – London, United Kingdom
A: “It sounds like you’re struggling with self-love. When we fully love and accept ourselves, others opinions don’t quite matter as much.
Something I recommend clients do, as we often have a habit of giving so much to everyone else and not enough to ourselves, is to write yourself a “love letter”. List the things you love about yourself and what makes you successful OUTSIDE of work and buying a house – these are external things. An example would be, “my success is defined by my ability to have fun every day and create a life full of balance.”
Which leads me to my next recommendation – I would also suggest playing more. Allow yourself to get creative, take photos of things you love, go for a walk in nature without music or a podcast, paint a picture. Let yourself have fun. This sense of ease will eventually allow you to turn that “can’t” into a “can” and you will find a way.” – Alyssa Miller, Anxiety Coach
