I don’t know about you, but I’d say I’m a pretty non-confrontational person. Of course, I’d stick up for myself and others if I felt it right, but for the most part, I’m quite content to wander through life without causing issues for others, and hope that people would do the same for me.When it comes to gossip though, you have to be superhuman to not want to be in on it. To say “no thanks” when someone says, “oh my god you’ll never guess what I heard about so-and-so”. Don’t lie - you’d want to know. You may have seen the recent drama on the US YouTube scene concerning beauty gurus Tati Westbrook, Jeffree Star, James Charles and equally as ‘famous’ docuseries host Shane Dawson. Without giving you a full overview because trust me, we’d be here for DAYS, here is a quick recap. Tati released a video called ‘Bye Sister…’ in May last year, ‘exposing’ James Charles for alleged shady behaviour, including claims that he is predatory towards straight males. James clapped back with a slick, PR-proofed video refuting Tati’s claims. Since then, makeup behemoth Jeffree Star who is incredibly controversial in his own right (including releasing a palette called ‘Cremated’ at the height of COVID-19) has alluded to the fact that he has dirt on the majority of the beauty industry including voicenotes, and messages (called ‘receipts’). Shane Dawson, popular for his docuseries featuring huge YouTube stars including Eugenia Cooney and his close friend Jeffree Star is also involved, not only supporting Jeffree, but also for making racist comments and sexualising the then 11-year-old Willow Smith. With me so far?
